Darul Ma’rifat Gontor 3

To improve the performance, loyalty, quality of teachers, students, and organization managers seems to be a never-ending effort done by Darul Ma’rifat under leadership of H. Saiful Anwar, S.Ag. as the school guardian. That is to ensure that sustainable transformation of life philosophy, values, and tradition of Gontor Modern Islamic Institution can be actualized.

 

Teacher Orientation of ITTC

Gontor 3 ITTC holds a program directing teachers towards an effective classroom teaching and learning. Held at Trimurti building, teachers are oriented to be able to apply Gontor teaching method in the class. The oriented subjects are divided into 5 areas: Islamic Studies, Arabic Studies, General Studies, English Language, and Natural Sciences. This orientation program takes place on September 22-28, 2010.

Advanced Study on Particular Subject

In order to improve the teaching competence of teachers in teaching certain subjects, a program named ta’hil or taujih is done. This program is managed by Teachers Career Department and focuses on several subjects, namely Insya’ (Arabic composition), Muthala’ah (Arabic articles reading), Arabic, Ushul Fiqh, Education, Tafsir, Nahwu (Arabic grammar), Reading, and English Grammar.

General Pre-Examination

This year second semester pre-examination is held on May 7-11, 2011. The program is aimed at measuring students’ understanding and comprehension of their subjects. The subjects examined in this pre-examination are Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and English Language. At the end, students who get the average result below 5 are ought to participate the second pre-examination.

ITTC ACTIVITIES

Practice of Hajj (The Pilgrimage)

This program is held for class 1 and 1 Intensive students to practice what they have learned in Islamic Jurisprudence lesson (Fiqh). Started from April 23 to 26, 2011, this program takes period of lesson 1 to 4. Moreover, in practicing Hajj, the students are guided by their Islamic Jurisprudence teacher.

Dead Care Training

Another program needs a practice for class 1 and 1 Intensive students, is how to treat the dead. For this purpose, on April 26-28, 2011, ITTC holds a training program in this regard. Like the hajj practice program, the teachers of Islamic Jurisprudence supervise the training.

Class 6 Students Activities

At Gontor 3 Meeting Hall, all class six students actively read and discuss Islamic heritage books. The discussion is usually held at the end of studying every subject. Furthermore, the result of the discussion is reported and then evaluated by teachers. The program started from December 18 to 22, 2011/Muharram 15 to 17, 1432 focuses on four discourses in Islamic studies, namely Aqidah, Tafsir, Hadith, and Fiqh.

Class 6 Students Centralized Study

This program is aimed at educating class six students in solidarity and social relationship. By centralizing the study, the atmosphere can be conditioned and controlled. Thus, it helps class six students facing their final examination. The agenda lasts from May 7 to June 22, 2011/J. Tsaniah 3 to Rajab 20, 1432 at Gontor 3 meeting hall.

Class Six Café

H. Saiful Anwar, S.Ag. instructs class six students to open a Café. The café named Class Six Café, is to raise the funds for class 6 activities especially Panggung Gembira (the greatest performance of class 6). Started from the end of Ramadhan month, the café earns Rp 26 million profit.

GUIDANCE ACTIVITIES

Premier Panggung Gembira and Drama Arena

It is a new era of Gontor 3 history, Panggung Gembira is purely handled by Class 6 students, while Drama Arena becomes class 5 students’ agenda. Panggung Gembira is considered as a greatest performance and a closing agenda of Khutbatul Arsy agendas series. On the other hand, Drama Arena seems to compete for the excellence of the former. Finally, both gala premier shows present a world-class performance.

Gontor 3 Olympiad

This year, Gontor 3 Olympiad raises a motto “With the Soul of Sportsmanship, We Tighten Islamic Brotherhood Bound”. Featuring language, science, scouting, sport, art, and skill competitions, the Olympiad holds for two weeks, from March 11 to 25, 2011. All classes, hostels, and sport clubs compete with each other in this event, so that students can develop and improve their talent and hobby. After all, they learn how to control their sportsmanship attitude so that Islamic brotherhood could be tightened.

HTQ (Haflah Tilawah al-Quran)

Besides Olympiad, Gontor 3 holds a competition on recitation of Al-Quran. This competition is named as Haflah Tilawah Al-Quran (HTQ) and takes place on March 10, 2011 at Gontor 3 meeting hall. All students from class one to five attend this event, so that they can improve and correct their reading of Al-Quran. In this competition, every hostel should delegate 1 person to follow the elimination stage. In the end, there are 9 contestants compete with each other in the final.

Journalism Course and Book Review of “Ranah 3 Warna

On March 18, 2011, Gontor 3 holds a program that encourages journalism in students. In this program, students are trained to write a journalistic writings such as soft news and hard news. In addition to that, they are also inspired with a best seller novel authored by the graduate of Gontor. In this regard, Ahmad Fuadi, the author, reviews his novels, and trains students how two write such inspiring novel. However, there are two other tutors in this course, namely O. Sholihin and Akbar Pribadi Brahmana Aji.

Seminar on IT and the Secretariat

This program is held in order to train students about secretariat and the relevance of IT to it. As a result, all class 3 Int, 4, 5 students, and all secretaries of rooms, hostels, classes, consulates, clubs, OPPM and Scout Movement Coordinator are obliged to involve. The seminar takes place on March 5-6, 2011 with tutors, namely M. Taufiq Affandi, S.H.I., Aris Yudianto, S.T., and M. Nur Murdan, S.Th.I.

Seminar on the Spectacular of Islamic Arts and Theatre

Another seminar held on March 14-15, 2011, is on Islamic Art and Theatre. In this seminar, students are shown the spectacular of Islamic Art so that they are encouraged to develop their talent and hobby in art, theatre, and calligraphy.

Library Orientation

On April 15-16, 2011, Library Department holds an orientation on librarianship. By this orientation, the students are motivated to have a reading habit and then intellectual Ulama can be achieved. Becoming tutor in this regard, is a holder of Master Degree in Library Science, namely Mr. H. Imam Bahroni, M.A., M.L.S. Moreover, H. Abu Darda, M.Ag. accompanies Mr. Bahroni as a presenter of this program.

SCOUTING

Basic Scout Leadership Training

This annual training is held on November 09-13, 2011 and spends 5 days. The first day of training is held at Gontor 3 campus, while the rest are at Gontor 3 campsite. After all, the training is an effort to prepare capable scout leaders who then produce militant, creative, and innovative scouts.

Advanced Scout Leadership Training

This next level of scout leadership training is held for 6 days, April 3-8, 2011. Two days are spent at the campus, while the rest are at the campsite. There are 67 participants in this year training with 11 trainers. In the end, the graduates of the training are hoped to supervise the scouts and scout leaders of Gontor 3.

Saka Bhayangkara

Gontor 3 holds training in several Law Enforcement Scouts Troop subjects. With a theme “Active, Creative, Skillful, and Useful”, this program is held for 6 days, started from March 26 to 31, 2011. The trainers are a team from Police Department in the region of Pare Kediri. Eventually, besides training in traffic management, community security advice, police gymnastics, the participants also have outbound as a joyful activity.

STUDENT UNION

Seminar on Islamic Thought

In collaboration with the Program of Muslim Scholar Cadres, Gontor 3 Student Union holds a seminar on Islamic Thought on April 29, 2011. In this regard, the participants of the program, namely Jarman Arroisi, S.Ag. and Ahmad Saifullah, S.Pd.I. present their papers in front of ISID students of Gontor 3. At last, this seminar leaves behind the students’ mind the importance of a critical study on orientalists’ works.

Seminar on Law

Another seminar held by Student Union is a seminar on Law with a theme “Ulama in Globalization, Politic, and Law”. The tutor of this program is Drs. Tjetjep Mohammad Yasien, S.H. This agenda takes place at Gontor 3 mosque on April, 14-15, 2011.

THE CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE

The Construction of Dairy Cattle Cage

One of productive economic activities being developed at Gontor 3 is an integrated agribusiness based on dairy cows. Thus, by building a new cowshed, the future dairy cow milk production is hoped to increase and then may contribute to the Gontor 3 and the community. Furthermore, the production bottled milk with different flavors and ice cream can be consumed by students with relatively low prices.

Construction Activities

This year, Gontor 3 set up several new buildings, i.e. 15 local classes, 15 bathrooms, Al Hikmah building, the fence behind classes, and catfish pond. Besides construction new buildings, Gontor 3 also holds a renovation of some buildings so that facilitate teaching and learning activities. Among the buildings being renovated are Students Kitchen, Committee Room, and UKK. Furthermore, there are also replacing ceramics of Mosque terrace, west bathrooms and bathrooms of Arafah, Cordoba and Firdaus building.
